Storm Debris Removal Final Pass

The City of Havelock has announced a final pass for Hurricane Florence debris pickup. All vegetative and construction demolition debris must be placed curbside before Monday, November 5, 2018. Contractor crews will start on the 5th and spend several days completing this final pass.

Residents are encouraged to collect all remaining storm debris and place it curbside, for pickup. As a reminder, debris must be separated into three piles: vegetative, construction/demolition/ household debris, and household appliances/electronics (no hazardous waste/paint) . Please, push your piles as close to the curb as possible, away from power lines and fire hydrants.

Once final pickup is complete on a street, that street will be inspected and certified complete by the contractor and the City. Once a street is certified as complete, the debris contractor will not return to that street. If you feel your street has been missed during the final pass, please contact the City of Havelock at (252) 463-7177.

When the final pass is complete, Public Services will resume the regular weekly vegetative collection schedule. Please, note that all debris placed curbside after the final pass must adhere to the City’s size and length restrictions:

  • Branches no greater than 5 inches in diameter and no longer than 4 feet in length
  • Yard waste must be in paper lawn bags or 30 gal containers (excluding leaves Nov 1- Jan 31 which can be put on the curb).

Whole trees will not be removed by the City. After final pickup, homeowners will be responsible for disposal of construction/demolition/ household debris.
