February 1st, 2019

Congratulations to W.J. Gurganus Elementary’s Jordyn Sowinski, recipient of the Do the Right Thing Award from the Havelock Police Department.

JORDYN IS A VERY HONEST AND TRUSTWORTHY INDIVIDUAL. HIS TEACHERS ARE EXTREMELY IMPRESSED. JORDYN FOUND A DOLLAR BILL ON THE CAFETERIA FLOOR AND DECIDED TO TURN IT INTO HIS TEACHER INSTEAD OF KEEPING IT.

Thank you Jordyn, for Doing the Right Thing!

DTRT-October 2017-W.J. Gurganus Elementary

December 1st, 2017

Congratulations to W Jesse Gurganus Elementary’s Donovan Darden, recipient of the Do the Right Thing Award from the Havelock Police Department. Donovan noticed a child that was having trouble swinging and he left his basketball game to make sure that the child had a friend to push him. Also, while recently on a field trip Donovan was extremely helpful to a student that was having trouble making it down a steep set of stairs. He was the first one to grab the child’s hand to help him. He is very aware of his surroundings and willing to act to help whomever is in need. Donovan is always making sure that everyone in the class is included and that everyone is treating each other fairly. He is a model student and his kindness and compassion is second to none.
Thank you, Donovan Darden, for doing the Right Thing!

Congratulations to W Jesse Gurganus Elementary’s Adriana Suiter, recipient of this month’s Do the Right Thing Award from the Havelock Police Department. Adriana is a conscientious student who knows the difference between right and wrong. She is also smart enough to realize that there are some tough decisions to be made in life! Each situation is different and although many decisions to report a wrong are easy, there are those situations out there where reporting a wrong is not so easy! Adriana made a very difficult decision to put herself out there to help another student in need. Thanks for Doing The Right Thing Adriana!
