Gary Greene – April 2019

Congratulations to Graham A Barden Elementary School’s Gary Greene, recipient of the Do the Right Thing Award from the Havelock Police Department. Gary’s grandmother was having a medical emergency. Due to his mother not being able to call for assistance, Gary picked up the phone and dialed 911. As a result of his swift action, his grandmother received the medical attention that she needed.

Thank you, Gary, for doing the right thing!

Shayla Guyer – February 2019

Congratulations to Graham A. Barden Elementary’s Shayla Guyer, recipient of the Do the Right Thing Award from the Havelock Police Department. Shayla is an amazing helper in class. While working in small groups, Shayla explains to other students how to do a task and then ensures they understand what is being taught. Shayla demonstrates a great deal of concern towards fellow students and sets an example for others to follow.

Monterio Ford – January 2019

Congratulations to Graham A. Barden Elementary’s Monterio Ford, recipient of the Do the Right Thing Award from the Havelock Police Department. Monterio is extremely helpful in class. Without having to be told, monterio places the chairs on the tables and picks up all classroom supplies at the end of class. Monterio has proven to be a valuable asset to the teacher and sets the example for others to follow.

Jackson Wilson – December 2018

Congratulations to Graham A. Barden Elementary’s Jackson Wilson, recipient of the Do the Right Thing Award from the Havelock Police Department. Jackson is great to have in class. Jackson is always eager to help others and can be relied upon to assist other students who may need assistance with classwork. Jackson is always there to lend a hand or offer encouragement. Congratulations to Graham A Barden Elementary’s Bethzy Alvarado, recipient of the Do the Right Thing Award from the Havelock Police Department. Bethzy noticed a kindergarten student having difficulty with school subjects. She took it upon herself to borrow materials and books to tutor the child in learning the alphabet, reading and writing. As a result of Bethzy’s efforts, the student showed improvement in their knowledge and confidence.

Congratulations to Graham A Barden Elementary’s Ta’Mein Howard, recipient of the Do the Right Thing Award from the Havelock Police Department. Ta’Mein found $20.00 before school began and as soon as he saw his teacher in class he let her know he found the money. I informed him once announcements and the morning rush was over we would let the office know and see if we could return it. Across the hall from us Mrs. Hernandez had a student who was very upset. He had lost his $20.00 for his field trip to Raleigh. Mystery solved! Ta’Mein was happy to return the money and the other student was overjoyed.

Congratulations to Graham A Barden Elementary’s Kai Ryba, recipient of the Do the Right Thing Award from the Havelock Police Department. Kai is a respectful, responsible, and reliable to not only his teachers but his classmates as well. Kai willingly assists his classmates with their assignments and is a great asset to his teachers. Kai is a natural leader and sets the example for his classmates to follow. Kai can be counted on by both his classmates and teachers alike. Thanks, Kai, for doing the right thing!

 

DTRT-January 2018-Graham A Barden Elementary

Congratulations to Graham A Barden Elementary’s Gissela Alvarado, recipient of the Do the Right Thing Award from the Havelock Police Department. While on her way to class, Gissela observed another student who appeared to be upset and scared. Without hesitation Gissela went to assist the other student. Gissela then escorted the student to the main office and continued to assist in calming the student down. Gissela displayed great compassion for her fellow student. Thanks Gissela for doing the right thing!

DTRT-October 2017-Graham A Barden Elementary

Congratulations to Graham A Barden Elementary’s BrieLynn Patterson, recipient of the Do the Right Thing Award from the Havelock Police Department. During recess, BrieLynn showed great initiative when she found trash on the ground in the playground. Without having to be told, BrieLynn began to pick up the trash. BrieLynn’s actions inspired other students to follow her example. BrieLynn not only showed concern for the cleanliness of the playground but set the example for others to follow. Thanks for doing the right thing!
