Havelock BOC Adopts FY 2020-21 Budget

FY 2020-21 Proposed Budget

The proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2020-2021 for the City of Havelock has been provided to the Board of Commissioners and is available for public inspection by clicking on the following link: Budget Book FY2021 or requesting a copy through the City Clerk’s Office by calling (252) 444-6400 during normal office hours.

A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the Havelock Tourist & Event Center.

In order to comply with COVID-19 mass gatherings and social distancing provisions contained within NC Governor Roy Cooper’s Executive Orders, all interested attendees will be required to follow specific guidelines put in place. The meeting will be recorded and posted to the website. Due to these protocols and possible restrictions, additional options will be provided to permit public participation as noted below:

  • Reserve your in-person attendance by contacting City Hall at (252) 444-6400. Adequate social distancing accommodations will need to be made to safeguard your attendance and/or participation. Appropriate protective face coverings/masks will be required of all attendees.
  • Call or Email general or public hearing related questions/comments:
    • Call in comments or questions prior to 5:00 p.m. on June 1, 2020 at (252) 463-7175. Please leave your name, address and comments/questions on the recorded line.
    • Email questions or comments by 5:00 p.m. on June 1, 2020 to: comments@havelocknc.us. Please provide your name and address.

Notice is hereby given that the Havelock Board of Commissioners will hold three (3) Public Hearings at the Havelock Tourist & Event Center, located at 201 Tourist Center Drive, Havelock, NC on Monday, June 1, 2020, with the first beginning at 7:05 p.m., or as soon as the matter can be reached, and the remaining following immediately thereafter. The purpose of the hearings is to discuss and consider the following:

(1) Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2020-2021 for the City of Havelock: The proposed budget has been provided to the Board of Commissioners and is available for public inspection by clicking on the following link: Budget Book FY2021 or by request through the City Clerk’s Office by calling (252) 444-6400 during normal office hours.

(2) Proposed Text Amendment – To Add “Tree Service” (with outdoor raw material/tree storage) to the Table of Permitted Uses (155-8), with the use as a Special Use Permit in Highway Commercial, Permitted Use in Light Industrial and Heavy Industrial, along with the associated development standards (155.0709) within the City of Havelock Unified Development Ordinance (UDO).

(3) Proposed Text Amendment – To the City of Havelock’s Flood Ordinance contained within the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). The proposal reflects updated flood map panels and regulations from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These updates to the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance are required by FEMA in order to remain eligible in the National Flood Insurance Program.
