Commissioner Jim Kohr was elected to the Board of Commissioners in 2017. Born in Georgia to a Navy family and accustomed to moving often, Jim Kohr is delighted to call Havelock "home." He was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point from 1996 until he was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1998. In 2008, Jim; his wife, Susan; and their two children, moved back to Havelock so he could serve as Pastor of Freedom Baptist Church.
Jim values a strong and thriving community and believes there is a need to attract more businesses while helping current businesses thrive. Jim desires wisdom in every decision effecting the resident of Havelock.
Commissioner Jim Kohr is currently appointed as the Board of Commissioners representative to the Recreation Advisory Board and the Eastern Carolina Council of Government.
