Whether you are looking to bulk up with the multiple free weights available, tone up on the commercial grade weight machines, or just shed a few pounds with an aerobic workout, the Havelock Recreation Center has what you need.
Commercial grade treadmills, elliptical machines and exercise bikes by Life Fitness and Magnum have multiple user-friendly programs to put you on the road to a healthy life style.
If weight training is your pleasure, plated weights up to 45 pounds each are available. The free weights can be used on one of the benches or take advantage of performing several routines with the safety oriented Smith Machine. Dumbbells ranging from 5 to 100 pounds each in 5-pound increments are available for the weight lifter at any level.
Just want to tone up a little without the added bulk? Try one of the many commercial weight machines by Magnum and Hoist. Offerings include a dip machine, crunch machine and an abducter/adducter thigh machine. A four stack universal gym is also available for your station workout.
All these workouts can be done while picking up on the latest news or watching the big game on the cable equipped televisions located in the fitness room. The Recreation Center offers very competitively priced memberships that range from a week to a year. Just want to workout for the day? Havelock residents age 18-59 can have use of the facilities for $1.00. 17 and under and 60 and over are just fifty cents Also be sure to ask about our family memberships and our fitness program offerings including yoga and pilates.
The Gymnasium has a high school regulation 84 foot court. Open gym is held three nights a week while youth leagues are not in season. The youth basketball league begins registration in October and runs through the end of February. There is also an area marked off around the gym for walking. In addition this court can be converted into a regulation size volleyball court.
ARTS & CRAFTS ROOM
The arts and crafts room will be home to the Parks and Recreation Summer Day Camp, as well as any classes sponsored by the Recreation Department.
The meeting room is used for youth sports league meetings and can be rented for meeting space otherwise.
