Position Description:Under general supervision of the Information Technology Director; provide professional level hardware and software support to computer workstations, servers, VOIP phone system, laptops and peripherals in a Windows-platform network environment, facilitating the information systems needs of city government operation. Position requires abilities to install, configure and troubleshoot state-of-art IT systems including programming proficiency, as well as utilization of exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Technician will be expected to maintain and enhance his/her trade competency through ongoing training, and, as a team member of the IT group, cross-train to aid in support any functional activities of the department when required.
Required Qualifications:Graduation from a two-year community college program or university with a major in computer science, programming or related field with verifiable experience involving Windows-platform personal computers, SQL database related applications, copper and optical fiber premise wiring, switched & routed networking, mobile applications and wireless technologies; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful applicant must be able to lift & carry moderate weight objects, and at times be able to function in close quarters of cabling spaces possessing faculties to operate tools & equipment common to the trade. Preferred certifications: A+, Network+, MCP, MCSE, MCSD, CCNA . Special attention will be given to those offering .NET framework programming skills and experience.

Firefighter / EMT-Paramedic

Days/Hours:Shift-Work
Position Description:Performs fire fighting work and emergency life-saving and rescue work; operates motorized fire suppression equipment and utilizes appropriate medical equipment; drives fire and/or emergency apparatus; performs related work as required.
Required Qualifications:Graduation from an accredited high school, supplemented with additional advanced courses and seminars in fire service and EMT-Paramedic training. Experience at the fire engineer/EMT-P level in a fire fighting company preferred. Good working knowledge of local patient care protocols helpful.
Special Qualifications:Possession of an appropriate valid NC class B driver’s license; possession of NCEMT-Paramedic certification; Must be ACLS & PALS certified, completion of BTLS or PHTLS encouraged. Must successfully pass pre-employment drug screening, physical agility test and pre-employment competency written test. Completion of a scope of practice prior to employment.
